The “Basiliad” was the project established by St. Basil to serve the needs of the poor. It was a massive complex that provided a safe space for travelers and orphans, assistance for widows and the destitute, a hospital for the ill, a hospice for those dying, a kitchen and pantry for those without food and so much more. It is appropriate that we use this name associated with our patron Saint to learn from his example and legacy. Our parish project may be small and humble, but we do what we can to better the lives of the less fortunate around us. Thank you for supporting and for providing an example for our children of generosity and good!
Current projects:
- Collecting non perishable food items for our local food pantries
We also accept monetary donations. The crates for the food items are on the table in the narthex of the Church.
- Care Bags for the homeless or those in shelters
Thanks to all who helped assemble care bags to distribute directly to the homeless or those in shelters. Even though our winters are mild in comparison to the north, for those on the streets or in shelters, this is a difficult season.
If you have any questions regarding the Basiliad or its activities, please talk to Kelly Askari, or email her at [email protected].
